What are they up to? October 2017 MABEE Award Recipients

On October 26th, 2017, we brought together Black Entrepreneurs and Business Resources for HIVE Networking Activity that granted awards to randomly selected participants. Register for the April 12th 2018 ResourceFULL event.


Checking in with our October 2017 Awardees:


 Congratulations!!! to Shnisha Mimis and Erica Green who each won $500, to Shanaqua Hudson who won $750 and to Edmond Apaloo who won $1,250.



Erica Green $500, plans to buy more fall inventory for Denim & Diamondz Clothing Boutique, which is a unique clothing store located on 2616 East Washington Ave. Madison, WI, 53704.

Shnisha Mimis, has always had a love for sweets and desserts, many of which she creates and customize for each customer individually.

An entrepreneur at heart, Shnisha realized at an early age just how much she loved to bake. After baking customized treats for a family friend, her Business started to grow. She soon began taking orders


and creating a name for herself, Mia Charming sweets offers specialty Desserts and cakes for customers that are Delicious enough to indulge in.


What Mia Charming Sweets plans to do with the fund is purchase supplies and materials needed for customer orders and to also so get materials for advertising and promotions for the business to help gain more exposure.



Shanaqua Hudson $500, plans to start up a website and market her business of PLM (Prisons Lives Matter) transportation services to transport families to see their loved ones in prison throughout Wisconsin. 






Edmond Apaloo $1,250, started fabricating hats to save up and create his own Clothing business, Afreeka Wear. Apaloo wants to promote unity, peace and real freedom through Afreeka Wear and make the world a better place for everyone.

He explains the logo "Open your wings and fly. It is a call to everyone to stand up and make it for themselves, it is a drive of the YES WE CAN/ YES I CAN spirit because we believe that no one else will do it for you as the way you really want it to be".
