Less than two years ago, the Madison Alliance for Black Economic Empowerment or MABEE (pronounced Mah-Bee) was an idea. "It honestly came to me in a meditation, this vision of building a collective resource together and what we could accomplish," says Eric S. Upchurch, Chief Visionary of Opportunity Inc., previous Executive Director of the Madison Black Chamber of Commerce and Founder of MABEE.
In a short time, we've activated a MABEE Business Leadership team to serve hundreds of Black entrepreneurs including needs based resource development and thousands of dollars in grants. Now, as a part of our collaborative work with the Madison Cooperative Development Coalition, we're expanding!
It's official, MABEE is hiring a Director of Business Development!
Eric says, that "We do so much at Opportunity Inc., and we've done well with MABEE so far, but this kind of work calls for focused, full-time energy and we believe a Director of Business Development is a strong step in that direction."
The Director of Business Development will be the first paid MABEE staff with more responsibility than the Business Leadership Team who are also compensated to a certain extent.
Successful candidates will have experience with organizational development, collaborative partnerships, business development and operations, community engagement, events and a strong passion for the success of Black entrepreneurs, with an ability to work independently as well as in diverse teams, a coachable approach to self improvement and strong attention to detail.
